"profile" has insurance categories and a separate coverage table
"financials" has an insurance tab which is a slightly different table from the profile coverage table
then there's the planning "insurance" tab
why are there so many different versions of i believe the same thing? am i supposed to be using them differently?

yep.
- profile tab is an input surface where you input information.
- financials is an output surface that you can print and show to clients
- planning tab shows specific policies in line to make it easy to reference while you're planning. the "policy summary" button on the planning tab just links you back to the financials page so you can see them in one spot if you want. its like a shortcut
